New York, USA

New York: The City That Never Sleeps

The city so nice they named it twice. Wall Street, Movies, Music, Politics, iconic food. Nowhere is more ideal for planning a school trip. History? Perfect. Politics? Ideal. You name it, New York works.

Key Stage 3ย  ย GCSEย  ย A-level

Visit Times Square at night, and become enamoured with the Big Apple and itโ€™s surrounding lights and skyscrapers.

Take a boat and visit the bronze behemoth that is the Statue of Liberty.

Visit the cultural hub that is MoMA, home to works by Van Gogh, Picasso, Warhol and more.

Take those vagabond shoes right to the heart of itโ€ฆ

New York is the Swiss Army Knife to anything you could want from the perfect school trip. Art students? MoMA. Sports? There are more teams than you can shake a fist at. If you can make a school trip there, you can make it anywhereโ€ฆ

  • Mild Summer, Snowy Winter
  • You canโ€™t move for iconic buildings
  • Arguably the best pizza in America

Statue of Liberty

The gift from the French that became one of the USโ€™ biggest icons. Visit the majestic madame up close while learning about its historical significance and getting a boat ride too! A must-see icon that a New York visit wouldnโ€™t feel complete without.

Wall Street

Head to Wall Street and NYโ€™s Financial District to feel the vibe of the economic epicentre of North America. Itโ€™s a chance to see where economic decisions shape the world and grasp this historic areaโ€™s significance in the financial world.

Central Park

A big bit of green in the middle of all that concrete. Take a bit of time to stroll through one of the biggest parks in the world, get some cracking pictures no matter the season, and enjoy a bit of peace from the wondrous chaos that is New York.

9/11 Memorial

Pay your respects at the 9/11 Memorial and Museum, remember the tragic events of September 11, 2001, and honour the lives lost. A poignant reminder of resilience and unity.

Brooklyn Bridge

Walk along a centuries-old engineering marvel and a symbol of connection between boroughs. A walk across the bridge grants stunning views of New Yorkโ€™s skyline and brilliant opportunities for photos for the โ€˜Gram. Definitely one to bring your camera along to.

American Museum of Natural History

Thereโ€™s a reason they made a movie here. Unfortunately, we canโ€™t let you in at night or guarantee that youโ€™ll meet Ben Stiller, but we can guarantee an excellent time wandering around one of the best museums on the planet, filled to the brim with dinosaurs and exhibits on the natural world.

Broadway

The home of theatre.

The West End is great, but itโ€™s not Broadway. Stroll and see a classic or the next biggest thing since Hamilton at the Mecca of Musical Theatre. Even theatre sceptics will be convinced by a night on Broadway.

Times Sq

Itโ€™s not a movie, TV show or game set in New York if there isnโ€™t a shot in Times Square. Itโ€™s the cityโ€™s vibrant heart, pulsating with energy, neon lights, and entertainment. It truly embodies the city that never sleeps and a stop that makes a trip unforgettable.

Reykjavik

Wander through the cobbled streets of Reykjavik, to immerse yourself in its rich culture, history, and lively atmosphere. Stand and marvel at Hallgrรญmskirkja, knock back some hรกkarlย (fermented shark)ย if you’re feeling brave, and check out one of the many festivals on throughout the year. What a city.

Golden Circle

Embark on the Golden Circle Tour to visit the country’s natural wonders such as the Geysir geothermal area, Gullfoss waterfall, and Thingvellir National Park. Stunning views and landmarks that will make your jaw drop.

Seljalandsfoss

As breathtaking as it is hard to spell, Seljalandsfoss is stunning from every angle. You can walk behind the waterfall and get up close to the stream as it obscures the surrounding scenery. An essential visit.ย

Winter Glaciers

Icelandic winters are perfect for seeing glaciers up close.ย Jรถkulsรกrlรณn’s blue waters, dotted with icebergs from surrounding glaciers, offer unparalleled scenery, whilst hiking across the mammoth that is Sรณlheimajรถkull is an option for those who feel more adventurous. Whether you do one or both of these options, cameras are essential.

Reynisfjara Beach

Reynisfjara is as stunning as it is eerie. Black sands, dramatic basalt columns, and ferocious Atlantic waves. Not the best beach to get a decent tan on, but as a natural landmark, it’s second to none.

Myvatn Nature Baths

Naturally heated, Myvatn is ideal for a dip, especially in the colder months. The pool is surrounded by volcanic landscapes as far as the eye can see, whilst the mineral-rich water will do wonders for your skin.

Aurora Borealis

Aurora Borealis? At this time of year, at this time of day, in this part of the country, localised entirely within your kitchen country?

Only viewable during the colder months, but my word is it is worth the wait. The celestial phenomenon will have your jaw on the floor and be the reason you want to come back to Iceland. If you visit during the summer… just come with us again in winter.
