Educational Travel for Students: When Learning Comes Alive

The best learning isn’t restricted to the classroom. Sure, books and blackboards can be great, but it’s when students step out of the classroom and into the world that learning can really come alive.
We remember what moves us. And nothing moves us quite like travel!
A 2021 study published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology found that students who spent time abroad showed higher levels of creativity, flexibility, and problem-solving skills. Other research from the Institute for the Future of Education shows that immersive experiences outside the classroom enhance memory by linking knowledge to emotion.
When a student sets foot on an Icelandic glacier, surrounded by volcanic landscapes and crystal-clear waters, something special happens – suddenly, the pages of their textbook burst into life. Standing beneath the intricate artwork of the Sistine Chapel, a picture in a book transforms into a living, breathing masterpiece right before their eyes. It’s moments like these that can create a spark that shapes a future.
Transformational power of travel
This isn’t just about ticking off landmarks or getting good selfies (though we won’t judge). For many of us, school trips have come to form a number of our core childhood memories that we look back on fondly. Not only have they given us funny anecdotes to share with friends and family, but also the opportunity to gain new experiences, grow as people and strengthen friendships and bonds that can last a lifetime.
Education isn’t just about curriculums and exams. It’s about those magic moments, the ‘wow’ factor and that one experience that inspires a young person to think ‘I can do that’. Growing as a person, not just a student.

🤩 we may be a little biased, but we have every reason to be. We’ve seen firsthand how travel can completely transform a student’s perspective. Suddenly, their world becomes a lot bigger and so does their confidence.
